Yes, in Japanese the expression is “I sleep like mud.”

In relation to food, there is an expression “My cheeks drop.” It is used when you eat something very tasty. I never thought about it, but it may sound strange to those who hear for the first time.

Learning a foreign language makes you reflect on your own language for sure… Also, discovering these new/interesting expressions is what I love about learning a new language :D

  1. Sleeping like a brick as in falling (asleep) as hard as a brick or becoming as immobile as a brick.
    If you think these expressions are weird you haven’t seen anything yet. The profane ones especially are world of absurdity of their own.
